[/b] - we have no rules concerning usernames upon registration, provided that they are appropriate for this forum. That said, if you decide to use a canon character's name as your username, bear in mind that is not a guarantee you will be able to play that character.ABOUT:
While it might not be fun or a particularly interesting read, Rotten Fruits does have Rules and Regulations that need to be followed. Please bear in mind this is not a list of every single 'can' or 'cannot' for this forum --- common sense and decency apply. If you have any questions about the rules listed here, please send a staff member a PM. Rotten Fruits is in compliance with ProBoards Inc. Terms of Service and Community Guidelines - please make sure you have read them, as by creating your account on this forum you agree to follow them.
THE START:
» Display Names - until you have an accepted character profile or canon application, you are free to use any [appropriate] non-canon display name that catches your fancy. Upon receiving an accepted profile or application you MUST change your display name to reflect that of your character.
» Name Formatting - once you are accepted as a character, because we would like to keep with as much of the traditional Japanese as possible, you are to format your name with the Last Name, followed by the First Name -- no comma to separate. No funky name styles either -- PLAIN TEXT ONLY, with proper capitalization.
» Accounts - one account per person! No exceptions. I repeat, multiple accounts are not allowed. If you have more than one character, you can always list them in your signature.
» Activity - we expect you to be as active as possible. If you are going to be absent for a week or longer, please let us know. Any accounts that are inactive for a month will be deleted, unless you gave prior notice. As far as RP vs OOC activity - you are not required to RP provided that you remain active in Furuba-related OOC. If you are not interested in RPing, or Furuba-related discussions, then you would probably be better off on a general forum.[/ul]
ROLEPLAYING:
» Posting - a paragraph per RP post is the minimum on this forum. HOWEVER! It is encouraged that you write as much as you possibly can past the paragraph minimum. We are an intermediate to advanced role playing forum; by that, we mean that we expect roleplay posts to have proper grammar and spelling at all times, barring the occasional typo. That said, we have no problem with guiding new roleplayers --- provided they follow the above rules. Please let us know if English is not your first language, and we will assist as best we can. All RP posts MUST be in third person, for forum uniformity.
» Japanese - yes, we expect you to know the terms used, and at the very least use the proper suffixes that your character normally uses [if any]. For your convenience, there is a list of phrases you will commonly see at this forum. This is an English-speaking forum, however, so please do not write all of your posts in Japanese, and keep it to simple, easy-to-look-up phrases.
» Rated PG13-M - in keeping with ProBoards Inc. Terms of Service, all content on this forum is PG13. However, we will be dealing with some mature topics as touched upon in Fruits Basket -- emotional and physical abuse, mildly incestuous relationships [the Sohmas are cousins x times removed, after all], as well as death. THIS DOES NOT MEAN that we accept mature or explicit content. If anything looks like it will exceed a PG13 rating, please fade to black. Should you wish to continue the roleplay past a PG13 rating, we ask that you and your partner
» No Godmodding - should be one of those 'common sense' rules, but it's here just to make sure. Godmodding is NOT allowed, unless you have permission from your RP partner
» No Plagiarism - another 'should be common sense' rule, but again it's here just to make sure. Plagiarism is NOT allowed - this includes from other forums, websites [including Wikipedia, FurubaWiki, etc], or anything you did not write. If you wish to include a quote, please only post a snippet [2-3 sentences], and link to the original quote. Any profiles/applications or profile/application content found to be plagiarised will be grounds for automatic profile/application rejection and account banning. If you can't write your own profile or application, you have no business roleplaying on this forum.
» Repossession of Canons - the staff reserves the right to repossess your canon character, if we feel that you are not active enough for that character, not posting to our standards, not staying within the character's personality, or any of the above.
» Playby/Face Claim - since we are currently only accepting canon character applications, all playby / face claim images MUST be that of your accepted canon character. Should you choose not to use your canon character in your signature and/or avatar, do NOT use images of another canon.
» Posting Format - plain posts ONLY. If you decide to format your RP post, you may use colours, blockquote, bold/underline/italic, and justify text. Anything else is absolutely unnecessary, so leave it out. This includes text such as ``& SOME TEXT . h e r e ! ? }}, and also applies to thread titles.
OUT of CHARACTER:
» Minimal Cursing - it's pretty laid back here at Rotten Fruits but please keep cursing to a minimum. There are other ways to express yourself without using vulgarity, so use your noggin and come up with some.
» Youtube Videos - do NOT embed these in your post; we do have a youtube UBBC feature, but the videos come with ads, which stretch the forum. Please simply LINK to a youtube video, provided it is appropriate for a PG13 audience.
» Member of the Month - an OOC award given by the staff on a monthly basis to the member who most embodies what we believe to be exemplary. We look at activity level, both Out-of-Character and on the RP forums, as well as behaviour toward staff and members, and behaviour on the forum. The monthly winner will be rewarded with a special custom title and ten karma points.[/ul]
WARNING LEVELS
Warning Levels will be issued at the discretion of staff for rule infractions. While each case is unique, we do have a basic guideline for warning levels -- per offense, you will receive a 10 percent increase. Reaching 30% will earn you a week suspension, 60% will earn you two weeks suspension, and 90% will earn you a month suspension. If you reach 100%, you will be permanently banned from the forum.
This being said - every case is different, and the staff reserves the right to increase warning level more or less than the above guidelines, depending on the situation at hand. We also reserve the right to skip straight to a suspension level, or an outright ban, depending on the severity of the rule breaking.
You may ask to have your warning level decreased by 5%-10% once a month, provided you have been on improved behaviour for at least a month after your warning level was issued. Lowering warning levels is the members' responsibility -- if you do not ask, your warning level will not go down.
Please note: a decrease and/or removal of a warning level does not give you a free pass! If your warning level was recently decreased or removed and you break the rules again, we will skip to the next warning level & consequence.
Permanent bans will be issued for [but are not limited to]: plagiarism of any sort, posting of content that violates ProBoards ToS in any manner, extreme rudeness, extreme spamming, art theft [either stealing from this forum, or posting stolen content on this forum].
MISCELLANEOUS
» Multi-Posting - unless you are bumping a thread in the Help Board, do not multipost! In the Help Board, please bump your thread only if 48 hours pass without assistance.
» Mini-modding - if you see someone breaking the rules, send a PM to a staff member; do not reply to the rule infraction, or you will also be breaking rules.
» Asking to be Staff - simple rule: don't. If the forum requires additional helping hands, the existing staff will approach the member they have in mind, or post an announcement asking for applications. Asking to be staff will hurt your chances of actually being promoted.
» Image Sizes: Avatars are to be no bigger than 100x100, even if you resize them via your profile. Signatures are to be no wider than 550 pixels, and no taller than 250px. In-Post images are to be no wider than 550 pixels, and no taller than 800 pixels. All of these images also have the 'no hotlinking' rule applied.[/ul]
» Image Crediting: Any image you use on this forum for your avatar or sig MUST have permission from the original creator [whether it's a message sent to you, or a notice posted from where you acquired the image]. Give these people credit. Just a small line in your sig will do, such as "Av/Sig by NAME HERE. Used with permission." This is in addition to the 'no hotlinking' rule.
These rules are subject to change.
You will be updated in the event they are.
By registering, you agree to follow these rules & all future modifications thereof.
