Name: Miki Age: 18 Character Applying For? Sohma Yuki
Why would you like to play this character?
Because I simply adore Yuki and I have this weird disorder where I favour the male character that doesn't get chosen by the girl he's infatuated with. I don't know why, but I've always been that way. But then again, Yuki will have Machi. =D Other than that, I really love Yuki's character and I can really relate to his personality. Also, he's one of the Furuba characters that I feel I can portray best. Why should we pick you, instead of another applicant?
Although I haven't been abused in the past and thus would not be able to relate to Yuki's dark past as much as I could, I do know how it feels to be hurt and betrayed by people I thought I could trust. Through this experience, I would be able to give Yuki's character more profundity. Also, I've roleplayed as Yuki before, previously in a Furuba RPG site and have been complimented with my portrayal of the nezumi. If that doesn't work, I promise to give you cookies! How would you portray this character if you were given the opportunity to do so? [Such as mannerisms, personality, etc]
Well, I'd portray Yuki as he is in the manga, but with more depth to his character development. My Yuki will be the same strong, respectful, intelligent, handsome heartthrob of his school as he is seen in the manga. But, my Yuki will be a bit darker and pessimistic in personality due to his rather traumatizing past with Akito and rejection by people in general. He will be jealous and will have an inferiority-complex. Though, this aspect of his character won't be seen by the other characters very often as it will be hidden in his heart and only surface whenever he is alone or when he is emotional. However, I will balance this by showing his kind and rather fragile side of his personality that longs to be accepted and loved. What roleplaying experience do you have, if any? If you don't, what do you think makes a good roleplayer?
My roleplaying experience? Well, I started out roleplaying when I was in middle school. This however started out with random scribbles and drafts for stories that I have to this day never finished. Then I moved on to IMs where I started making stories with what my friend and I made up. However, I later began actually roleplaying through forums and/or boards. I used to be an admin in a Furuba RP site - Broken Hearts && Shattered Glass - though that site is currently dead because of member inactivity and overall business of life. I also played as Sohma Yuki in this forum. In fact, I only know about this site because of an email I got from a person who saw the Furuba forum I used to roleplay in. Besides that, I'm currently roleplaying on the Gaia Forums in a DGM roleplay as Lavi Bookman Junior.
How far have you read the manga? Completed, although I really should brush up on it. I haven't read it in years! D=
How much of the anime have you seen, if any? All episodes - except the end. But just like the manga, it's been awhile since I've seen it so the details are kind of blurry at the moment. I do remember however that the ending was beyond terrible. Must be why I didn't watch it.
What spoilers have you seen/read, if any? I would think all of them considering I've finished it. And no, the ending of the anime does not count!
How often would you be able to roleplay, on a general basis? If reality permits and if I lived in a perfect world, I would say daily. But because life isn't like I would estimate around twice a week, more if nothing interferes and I'm not too busy.
Please post your roleplay sample here, making sure your character is in the personality / mind set of the timeline [shortly after volume six], as well as their current appearance. If you have read past this, you are free to include information that has not yet been revealed, but keep it to internal musings. Your roleplay sample must be at least two standard paragraphs [though longer is better], follow the forum rules, and ProBoards ToS.
A soft cold breeze of September air wafted against a pale face, causing the figure to shudder involuntarily at the sudden chilliness and absence of the warmth that radiated from the hallway. He turned back towards the paper sliding door he had exited from and shut it firmly closed before he walked down the steps and towards the road that lay adjacent to the rather large house. The day seemed like the usual Saturday morning. Children were up and about, playing amongst themselves, basking in the pleasantness of the weather while adults were strolling about doing chores or just relaxing lazily under the sun. It was a good day for that after all. Being lazy and just relaxing… or probably even just playing games and whatnot. A good day indeed. Well, for normal people at least. But when was Sohma Yuki ever normal?
The young man tucked his hands into his coat’s pocket as another gust of wind blew against his form. Yes, he would have gladly agreed to the idea of remaining at home, or at the very least the backyard and lie around, enjoying the almost too perfect day. Perhaps even head out towards his secret base and check if the strawberries had grown ripe during the past few weeks. However, he could not do so. He had several things that he needed to attend to…and they made no room for delay. It was his turn to go shopping for groceries after all. But, if he was lucky, he could still be able to laze around the house doing nothing for the rest of the day. But then again, the young man wasn’t always that lucky.
A soft sigh fell from his thin lips causing a small puff of smoke to escape into the air. Long silver bangs fell softly against the man’s face, slightly obscuring his greyish orbs as he walked down the fairly crowded street. He tried his best to avoid any contact with any of them - most especially the female populace - as he did not want an 'accident' to occur. But, this was proving most difficult. His slender form was clad warmly within his long beige coat, paired up with a pair of long dark pants and such clothing weren't exactly made for 'stealth'. Upon his feet were a pair of comfy black shoes that helped him walk easily in and out of crowds where his attire did not. He tried to blend within the crowd and did his best not to bring any unneeded attention upon himself. Still, many eyes fell upon him as he passed by. However, the young man paid them no heed and continued along the sidewalk, leaving their gazes in the dust. He wasn't an idiot. He knew he was handsome… he just wasn’t the sort of person vain enough to flaunt off his looks. No, he left that sort of display to his older brother. That sort of thing was Ayame’s forte after all. Not his. Definitely not his.
‘I better get started…’ he thought absently as he produced a piece of folded paper from his pocket, unfolding it deftly with his hands revealing the neat slants of his handwriting. The wind clashed against the paper, causing it to blow back and forth, but he managed to keep it still within his grasp. ‘Beef… tofu… radishes… spoons and forks... tape... eggs… and leeks…’ he read out in his mind, trying to remember the food products before he replaced the paper from whence it came. He glanced at his surroundings and found none of the stores he was looking for. However, what he did see was his nii-san's high-end cosplay boutique which he placed great care to avoid entirely. He still had not recovered from his first visit and at the moment he wanted that visit to be his last.
'Leeks', the silver-head recalled absently as he tried to remember the contents of the list before a dark smile appeared on his face as he imagined what the baka neko would do if he came back to the house to find a bunch of leeks on his bedroom floor. It wasn't that Yuki hated the cat. In fact, once upon a time, a younger Yuki had wanted to befriend the neko. However, the orange-topped idiot had rejected his attempt at friendship causing the animosity between the two to escalate to the point that bickering and fighting was a constant whenever the two were in a room. That, and destruction - though that part was mostly on the cat's side. Yet, while the nezumi still wanted to find peace between them, the years of hatred were really hard to let go of, even more so to forget. Then there was the other matter. Although Yuki would never admit it out loud, he was jealous of his cursed cousin. While it would seem as if the bad-mannered youth didn’t seem to get along with other people, he always ends up becoming fast friends with them, like moths to an open flame. Even though the cat could never be accepted by the juunishi, at least he was accepted by everyone else for who he is and not for who he appeared to be. That was something Yuki had always dreamt of as a child but somehow never managed to achieve. But then again, wasn’t that his own fault? He was a disgusting rat after all. Who in their right mind would like, most less accept him? No one.
"That baka neko doesn't realize how lucky he is," Yuki softly muttered with a hint of sadness, his voice getting lost within the rather harsh wind that whipped against his slight frame. As another chill passed through his body, the nezumi quickly shook himself out of his dark thoughts and returned his focus back on the task at hand. His eyes glanced quickly at a nearby clock and surmised that he only had a few hours left before noon. 'I better hurry. I don't want Tohru to wait too long,' he thought with a slight smile on his face at the mention of the rather clumsy brown-haired girl. She really did have a tendency to worry and Yuki would rather not make the girl fret anymore than she needed to – especially not for him.
Suddenly determined to finish his shopping before lunch came along, he swiftly went through several shops, purchasing the things listed off item by item. He quickly bought the non-perishable food from nearby shops before he made his way towards the local supermarket. Carefully but with speed, Yuki picked out all the needed groceries, unconsciously adding more leek into his basket than required. Once done, he paid for his items and headed towards Shigeru's house with bags in tow. He watched as the familiar yard and front door was soon in view as he headed onto the front porch, just in front of the main door. Using his free hand, he gently slid the paper door open and entered the house, welcoming the sudden burst of warm air.
"Tadaima." He was finally home.
YukixMachi <3 -- 'cuz I find it cute.
[[ooc;; It's a tad bit too long... I'm sorry. D=]]
